“One more try…. OK one more… Alright, just one more!” I’ve never said these words as much as when I started playing Rogue Legacy, an indie title which is PC exclusive at the moment and can be purchased on Steam. It makes me laugh as lots of PC gamers are playing this game on a machine powerful enough to land

Shadow Warrior was originally released in 1997 and developed by 3D Realms, the same bunch who was behind the very popular Duke Nukem. Shadow Warrior was very similar to Duke Nukem as it was, well, developed by the same developers, more or less around the same years and using the same engine… Lots of games “a la Duke” came out in the late 90’s like Blood or Heretic.

Some gamers feel obliged to promote the console they possess and feel is the best while others do not care… They sometimes put so much animosity in debating their console is the best that the debates are sometimes referred to as “Consoles War”. Those vehement debates keep the gaming community active, and if some gamers reminisce over them it’s because those discussions were the “heart” of our schools recreation grounds when we were kids… But honestly, we can be nostalgic about it but those conflicts never ended and are still very true up to this day… And this war is every day’s life for games editors and developers who have been fighting it for years. Last week-end, I took my son for a haircut at Uncle Bill’s which happens to be located in the vicinity of Pro Station. While leaving the salon, my 5-year old looked at me and obviously had something on his mind. He started explaining to me that he really liked Batman and that must have been the logical reason behind the fact that we have a few Batman games at home… He then went on pondering the rational explanation that could expose the reason why we had no Transformers games, although he also likes Transformers a lot.

Like I’ve mentioned before I’m more of a Street Fighter kind of guy… But when the creators of Mortal Kombat put out a DC fighting game, I couldn’t resist… Well, actually, the same team was behind Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe which kind of worried me as the beginning as it would be so easy to just port the existing DC characters from the old game and make a new game out of it. But it does not play like Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe at all…

Let’s be clear about the term “fighting game”… If only fighting was concerned, most beat’em all would fit the bill as they’ve all got their fair share of knuckles, testosterone and boobs… Fighting games are not only about that but are more like tools used by gamers to humiliate others. However, it is nowadays common to see beat’em all characters
